His goal is to take one of the big predators with a Darton Serpent crossbow. At one point Avery has an animal at just thirty four yards for more than an hour but decides to wait in hopes of a bigger wolf. Avery heads out in early November for what should be a very productive rut hunt, but unseasonably warm weather slows things down. He goes back to Kansas in December and is joined by Pat McKenna of Ameristep (ameristep.com). Pat takes a beautiful 8pt with his gun, then Mike heads back to the bow blind.
